Hello,
Students on this list might be interested in participating in Google
Summer of Code, for which SIP Communicator has been selected. More
information below:
%%
In 2007 alone, Google Summer of CodeTM brought together 900 students and
nearly 1500 mentors across 90 countries to contribute to over 130
different open source software projects, including SIP Communicator.
This year SIP Communicator is once again taking part in this great
event!
SIP Communicator is completely free open source audio/video Internet
phone and instant messenger written in Java. It supports some of the
most popular instant messaging and telephony protocols such as SIP,
Jabber (and hence GoogleTalk), AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC,
Bonjour and soon others like IAX.
The development of SIP Communicator started out at the Louis Pasteur
University in Strasbourg, France (http://www-ulp.u-strasbg.fr) but has
grown to include members and contributors from (alphabetically) Brazil,
Bulgaria, Cameroon, China, France, Estonia, India, Germany, Japan,
Romania, Spain, UK, USA, and others.
Pick a project from our project ideas list!
Earn $4500 (paid by Google) during the summer!
Gain real development experience!
Application deadline is April 7!
