Hi

After compiling and installing the kernel, I faced an error of [kernel
panic] VFS unable to mount fs on unknown block (0,0)
I figured out that there in no initrd image in /boot.
I created the initrd image by using the command update-initramfs -c -k
'2.6.29.3' and added the line in menu.lst, now the kernel panic error is
removed but after restarting the machine it waits about 5 minutes and throw
an error could not find hda01 try using sda1.

Am I using the correct command to create initrd image.

Regards
